Introduction to CyberPanel

CyberPanel is an easy to use control panel. It comes bundled with functions that allow you to perform some common web hosting admistrative tasks. This post is an introduction to CyberPanel to a user with User privilege.

Logging in to CyberPanel

CyberPanel commuicates through port 8090. To log in to CyberPanel, you will need to append the port number after your IP

In the following sections, you will be introduced to the functions available to a user account.

1. Users

You can view your profile and modify it here.

2. Websites

You can view the websites that you are assigned here. From the list, you can open up your website’s control panel.

3. Databases

You can list the current databases your account used. You may use this function to manage your additional databases created from procedures such as stagings.

Creating a database in with CyberPanel. You should not use this function to create database. Creating the web app would create the database automatically.
Delete database in CyberPanel. You will need to use this function during staging process.

Accessing PhpMyAdmin in CyberPanel is automatic. You do not need to re-enter the password to access the database manager.
Dashboard of PhpMyAdmin. You should not use this app to make changes to your database. Making illegal changes might render your site inaccessible.

4. DNS

You can manage your DNS servers here.

5. Emails

You can use this to create emails if your hosting plans allow. It is useful to remember that your servers need to be configured correctly for any emails to be sent out from the servers.

Since emails are hard to configure for smooth delivery, subscribing to a professional email provider is a better option. Many email plans, such as Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, offers reliable email services on top of many additional apps that could increase the productivity of your business.

6. FTP

Create FTP accounts which are useful when you need to upload files to your website. However, you could also use the CyberPanel’s Files Manager to manage file upload and download.

7. Back up

Backing up your site is extremely important. It should always be one of the first things you do right after getting your WordPress site.

CyberPanel offers two ways to backup your site. In Backup, your backups are stored locally on the server where you account is. The other destination that you can store your backup is Google Drive. You can set it up under Setup Google Drive.

8. Incremental Back up

In the previous Back up mode, every backup consists of your entire WordPress site. In Incremental Back up, only thre first backup is a full version of your site. Subsequent backups consists only of the changes that you made to your site, including the database changes. This offers a better use of your storage drive resources.

Incremental backup add only changes to the subsequent, saving storage spaces.

SSL

You can use this function to apply a free SSL certificate for your domain.

SSL manager in CyberPanel creates free SSL certificates from LetsEncrypt. Your site with Quik Launch is already SSL-enabled by default.

This introduction to using CyberPanel to manage operations of your website provides an overview of the tasks that you can achieve. It should be remembered that an account with User privilege, there are many functions that are not accessible to you. If you have the admin privilege, your will have more functions including the capacity to restart the server. One unique advantage of LiteSpeed Web Server is that you can upgrade your server while your server remains accessible by your visitors during the process.
